Denise Hickey
Denise uses found objects and materials - particularly from around the home to explore construction and order . The artist attempts to find understanding by taking apart and reconstructing elements to make sense of her world.
Her materials range from old quilts to abandoned wood as well as more conventional mediums such as canvas. The work features a variety of techniques including painting, sewing, printing and installation.
Some of the work is dark, some is childlike while other pieces contain elements of fantasy or romance with each piece aiming to create a ramshackle sense of unity.
